Charlevoix Concert Series & Monday Movies in the Marina

Charlevoix Concert Series

The Charlevoix DDA is proud to offer the Charlevoix Concert Series every Thursday from Memorial Day to Labor Day in Downtown Charlevoix's beautiful Odmark Performance Pavilion. Concerts are from 7pm-9pm and are open to the public free of charge.

Monday Movies in the Marina

The Monday Movies in the Marina series is generously sponsored by Charlevoix Cinema III, a locally owned independent movie theature located on Antrim Street in Downtown Charlevoix.

 

There will be five movies shown in the park this summer. All movies are rated PG, however, some films may contain material not sutible for all children, parent please be advised.

 

June 23 . PG . The GooniesThe Goonies

Mikey Walsh and Brandon Walsh are brothers whose family is preparing to move because developers want to build a golf course in place of their neighborhood-unless enough money is raised, which is quite doubtful. But when Mikey stumbles upon a treasure map of the famed "one-Eyed" Willy's hidden fortune, Mikey, Brandon, and their friends set out on a quest to find the treasure in hopes of saving their neighborhood. The treasure is in a cavern, but the entrance to the cavern is under the house of evil theif Mama Fratelli and her sons Jake and Francis Fratelli, and the severly disfigured Lotney "Sloth" Fratelli.

A young Carl Fredrickson meets a young adventure-spirited girl named Ellie. They both dream of going to a lost land in South America. 70 years later, Ellie has died and Carl remembers the promise he made to her. Then, when he inadvertently hits a construction worker, he is forced to go to a retirement home. But before they can take him, he and his house fly away using thousands of helium balloons. However, unbeknownst to Carl, he has a stowaway on board: an 8-year-old boy named Russell, who's trying to get an Assisting the Elderly Badge. Together, they embark on an adventure where they encounter talking dogs, an evil villain, and a rare bird named Kevin.

In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sitis a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru, planning the biggest heist in the history of the world- he is going to steal the moon. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned grils who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. The world's greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith, and Agnes.

 

August 4 . PG . A League of Their OwnA League of Their Own

During WWII when all the men are fighting the war, most of the jobs that were left vacant because of their absence were filled by women. The owners of the baseball teams, not wanting baseball to be dormant indefinitely, decide to form teams with women. Scounts are sent all over the country to find players when one of the scouts passes through Oregon and finds a woman named Dottie Hinson, who is incredible. She is not interested in going until the scout offers to also take her kid sister. Jimmy Dugan, a former MLB player, who's now a drunk is the team manager. Do these women have what it takes to be taken seriously in competitive baseball? After a few months when it appears the girls are not garnering any attention and the league is facing closure, Dottie does something that grabs the attention of the press and fans alike.

 

August 18 . PG . Finding NemoFinding Nemo

A clown fish names Marlin lives in the Great Barrier Reef loses his son, Nemo. After he ventures into the open sea, despite his father's constant warnings about many of the ocean's dangers. Nemo is abducted by a boat, netted up and sent to ta dentist's office in Sydney. While Marlin ventures off to try and retrieve Nemo, he meets a fish named Dory, a blue tang suffering from short-term memory loss. The companions travel a great distance, encountering various dangerous sea creatures such as sharks, anglerfish, and jellyfish in order to rescue Nemo from the dentist's office. While they are doing this, Nemo and the other sea animals in the fish tank plot a way to return to Sydney Harbor and live their lives free again, away from the fear and torment of Darlah, a particularly foul young patient.
