The region's residents and visitors are fortunate to have lifesaving healthcare only minutes away at Charlevoix Area Hospital. In recent years, an $11 million upgrade expanded and reshaped nearly the entire facility. Annually, the hospital treats 1,500 patients in the hospital and more than 29,000 outpatients. It offers
health education and special services as well, such as diabetes management and childbirth preparation classes. An Urgent Care/Walk In Clinic is open 365 days a year from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. In 2004, the Beaver Island Rural Medical Center opened to provide care for residents and visitors on the Island.
