Educating future leaders
Residents take pride in top-quality schools, supporting millages to ensure local children have the best educational opportunities. Public school districts in Charlevoix County include Charlevoix, Beaver Island, Boyne City, Boyne Falls, Concord Academy - Boyne and East Jordan. Also available are the Montessori School, Northwest Academy and St. Mary's School, all in Charlevoix. From pre-kindergarten to college, public to private instruction, students experience premium learning environments, including North Central Michigan College in Petoskey and Northwest Michigan College in Traverse City. Both community colleges have established university centers, where students may receive continued education through major state universities while living at home or on campus. North Central also offers classes in East Jordan as part of a multi-use industry and business project.

Charlevoix Public Schools
A Class C, K-12, public school system located in Charlevoix. Charlevoix Public Schools have 1,376 students in three seperate schools, Charlevoix High School, Charlevoix Middle School, and Charlevoix Elementary School. Northwest Academy has educated students in Charlevoix since 1996. We are a tuition-free public school offering exemplary education in kindergarten through 12th grade. Our school is committed to excellence, illustrated by our dedicated staff, our commitment to K-12 foreign language classes, and our Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Band program that begins in 4th grade.
Northwest Academy's curriculum is based on the standards adopted by the State of Michigan and is held accountable for these standards via MEAP testing and the No Child Left Behind Act.
We have a dynamic program in addition to our traditional academic courses, from K-12 foreign language instruction, an award-winning band program, to our fun, family atmosphere.
